MARY BROWN--89: died Thursday afternoon [2-09], 3 days after her husband; she was reportetd last week as being criticall ill. Mary Tidd was born 18 Oct 1823 in Kinsman OH; she married Oliver Basquin in 1839; 6 children were born to them-3 of whom are living; they are Sherman Basquin-Hartsgrove; Jennie Stavig-Seattle WA; Lowanda Parker-Alma NE. Her husband died in 1874, she was united in marriage to James H Brown.
They were both cared for in their declining years by Mr Brown's son & wife-Mr&Mrs Bert Brown. MrsBrown was a member of the des-ciple church, was a good neighbor & always had a kind word & smile for everyone; many a home can testify to her kindness in times of sickness & death.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon [2-11] at the residence under the direction of HB Dodge; Rev Haskell of RockCreek delivered the sermon. A quartet composed of Mr-Mrs RD Kirk, Ethel Rich & Lynn Horton sang "Beckoning Hands", "Over The River" & "I Need Thee Every Hour". Those present from out of town were Mr&MrsHarvey-Harpersfield; Mr&MrsEd Johnson-Concord; Elmer Brown &dau-Leroy; Mr&MrsFrank Ford &dau-Thompson.
