He entered life in Metamora, Ill. and moved to California in 1954 with his wife, Lois, seeking opportunities for a better life and found it. Griffith was a resident of Covina for 36 years.

Griffith served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 20, 1944, to July 24, 1946. He also served in the U.S. Army from June 22, 1949, to Aug. 26, 1952, rising to the rank of Corporal and experiencing active duty in Korea, receiving five Battle Stars.

Griffith retired from Macy's Department Stores as Director of Store Planning in 1992.

He is survived by his children, Pamela and William; grandchildren, Griffith II (Rusty), Nicole and Wesley; great-grandchildren, Julius, McKenzy and Jax; brother, Marvin Jones; and sister, Vonda Winchell.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Lois; sister, Marguerite; and brothers, Clifford and Ronald.
