E.C. Addison: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Macon Telegraph, The (GA) - Tuesday, August 22, 2000Deceased Name: E.C. AddisonABBEVILLE --- Services for E.C. "Boo" Addison will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Abbeville First Baptist Church, with burial in Bay Springs Cemetery, Rhine. Addison, 79, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at River Willows Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Wilcox County, he was the son of the late Lon B. Addison and Grace Robertson Addison. He was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church, the Adult Men's Sunday School Class and the brotherhood, and was a deacon. Addison was owner of one of the first privately-owned fish hatcheries in Georgia, raising channel catfish. He served as sheriff of Wilcox County from 1968 to 1972, was retired from the Department of Agriculture, where he served as a food inspector for 33 years, and was a farmer. Addison was founder of the Addison Board Hog Hunting Lodge Inc. in Dodge County, which he and his family owned and operated. He was an organizer of Wilcox County's first sportsmen's club and the annual Wild Hog Festival. In 1959, Addison started the Wild Hog Supper, an Atlanta event that marks the opening of the Georgia Legislative session.Survivors include his wife, Mary Ida Addison of Abbeville; son, Bob Addison of Abbeville; sisters, Onie Fisher and Frances Williamson, both of Abbeville; and three grandsons.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Frazier and Son Funeral Home.
