Original name was Joel Richard Allcock. Had his name and that of his family changed to Madison by act of the legislature. He married on January 7, 1837, Warren Co., KY to Mary Jane "Polly" Herrington, step-daughter of his brother, Willis Allcock. Mary Jane "Polly" Herrington was the daughter of Nancy (Hunt) Herrington & John M. Herrington. Joel R. Allcock-Madison's parents Joseph Reynolds Allcock & Stilly (Campbell) Allcock are buried in the Allcock-Anderson-Goodrum Cemetery on the Sam Duncan Farm. This Cemetery has gone by several names.
