Holt Machinist Dies After Heart Attack
Vandon Hill, Sr., machinist at the Central Foundry Company at Holt, died suddenly at his home early today following a heart attack. Mr. Hill was a member of the Holt Baptist Church and affiliated with the Machinist' Union, Local No. 455. He had resided at Holt for the past 15 years.
Funeral services will be held at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Holt Baptist Church with the Rev. E. E. Weaver officiating. Burial will be in the Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kate Whalan Hill, four children, Juanita, Lanell, Vandon, Jr., and Merle Hill all of Holt; his father, Mitchell Hill of Duncanville, three brothers, Clarence and Floyd Hill of Duncanville, and Dewey Hill of Kentucky, and five sisters, Mrs. Sam Farley and Mrs. Jevie Dockery of Duncanville, Mrs. Ludie Harris of Kentucky, Misses Jewell and Ruth Hill of Tuscaloosa.
Active pallbearers for the funeral will be Bud Jennings, Manuel Sexton, Lester Fischer, J.A. Long, Tom Hill and John Lackey. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Jones, Bob Robison, John Brady, Frank Sullivan, I.O. Skelton, Jesse Landers, J.H. Boteler, J.A. Bolling, M.J. Hayes, Joe Harmon, J.W. Singleton, Dr. J.S. Bealle, Bob Lee, Gilbert Smith, Robert Hasty and R.J. Weaver.
