Floyd M. Crosley, age 68, died on Thursday, January 15, 1970 at 7:08PM when his automobile was struck by a train on the Union Pacific Railroad’s mainline tracks in Fremont. He had driven two-tenths of a mile on the track west from the Hormel plant crossing. He was standing outside the car when the train hit the car and he was struck by the car door. The Union Pacific freight train’s engineer saw the car as the train came around a curve about 300 feet away. The engineer used emergency braking in an attempt to stop the train. The reason the car was driven down the track is unknown.
