Anna J. Colgan Medinger was born July 25, 1892 in Phillips County, Kansas to Charles and Alice Markey O’Neill, and died September 6, 1988 at the age of 96 years, one month and 12 days.
As a young woman she was a telephone operator in Alma, Neb., prior to her marriage May 19, 1915 to Fred R. Colgan. They were the first couple to be married in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Alma. He died June 30, 1931. She was married to William Medinger in Omaha on December 30, 1954. He died July 13, 1971.
Mrs. Medinger was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colo. The past 17 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Dold and Mary Frances Shoemaker, both of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight nieces and three nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Thomas O’Neill; and two sisters, Molly Finnegan and Julia O’Neill.
Mass of the Christian burial was held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs on September 9, 1988 with Mrs. Medinger’s grandson, Father John F. Dold, officiating. Graveside services were held at the Alma, Neb., cemetery on September 13, 1988.
