ALMENA -- Mary Jane Van Patten, 71, Almena, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006.

Mrs. Van Patten was born Mary Jane Burbach on Oct. 13, 1934, in Republican City, Nebraska. She was a circulation manager and proofreader for the Norton Daily Telegraph.

Survivors include her husband, David, of the home; a son, Anthony "Tony" of Almena; two daughters, Teresa Larimer of Buffalo, Missouri, and Tina Coddington of Fair Grove, Missouri; two brothers, Jack Burbach of Salina, and Daniel Burbach of Maple Hill; a sister, Zita Jean Fisher of Almena; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Norton. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Almena.

Memorials may be made to Mount Hope Cemetery Fund, Prairiedog Press, Almena, or Logan Manor, Logan.

Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home, Buffalo, Missouri, is handling arrangements.
