Joel "Joe" Flanary COEBURN, Va. Joel "Joe" Flanary, 60, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at the Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn., after a brief and devastating illness. He was of the Christian faith, a former draftsman for several companies for many years, was presently an employee of Wise County working as a convenience center attendant and was an avid farmer He was preceded in death by his parents, Langley Pate Flanary Sr. and Virginia Flanary; and a brother, Langley Pate "Pete" Flanary Jr.

Graveside services for Joel "Joe" Flanary will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, Va., with Rev. David Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Coeburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Levitt Ministries, P.O. Box 12268, Dallas, TX 75225. Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 Sixth St., Coeburn, VA 24230 is in charge of arrangements.
