Dominicia "Annie" Marchese Ferlita, born March 19, 1919 in Ybor City went to be with Our Lord on April 9, 2012 at the age of 93. She was a beloved mother, nana, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend to many. She is preceded in death by her brothers Tony, Benny, and Sam Marchese. Sisters Edna Fretto, Josephine Guarisco, and Vi Cacciatore and grandsons Joseph and Peter Albano. She is survived By her Daughters Grace Albano (Peter), daughter Patricia Bodden (late husband Dee) and son Joseph Ferlita (Florence). Eight grandchildren. Eleven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren. Sister RoseMarie Dixon, brother Joe Marchese,Jr. Born and raised in Ybor City, she lived her life in the Tampa community. She was involved and dedicated to many organizations, clubs, and groups. Annie was always willing to serve and did so. She was a true leader, giving of her time and money selflessly. She was a life long member and held many positions in various organizations she served, including past President of the Tampa Federation of Garden Clubs, where she was instrumental in the fundraising and building of the Tampa Garden Club on Bayshore Blvd. A loyal Democrat, She campaigned for many Presidential hopefuls, and had the honor of being invited to Presidential Inaugurations. In addition, she was involved in the Women 's Democratic Caucus, where she held numerous positions, including past President. She was a life long and active member of La Nova Sicilia Lodge #1251. Funeral services will take place Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 12:30PM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories cemetery. Flowers will be accepted. Contributions may be made to Life Path Hospice in her memory.
