Moved at the age of nine with her parents from Michigan to a homestead on Shell Creek northwest of Humphrey, Nebr.

Following her marriage she and her husband lived on farm two miles east of Lindsay for two years, then moved to Humphrey, then returned to Lindsay where they lived for ten years. In 1912 they moved to Cedar Rapids.

About three years before her death she slipped on a rug and fell to the floor, fracturing a bone in her shoulder. She had been bedfast since then. On March 31, two weeks before her death, she suffered a paralytic stroke.

Preceded in death by her husband (July 26, 1934) and three children in infancy: Elsie, Clara, and Frederick.

Survived by six children:
1) Paul
2) Joseph
3) Vera
4) Florian
5) Marie
6) Eleanor

Also survived by one sister and four brothers:
1) Mrs. Albert Hanke - Lindsay
2) John Melcher - Humphrey
3) Fred Melcher - Humphrey
4) Henry Melcher - Lindsay
5) Ben Melcher - Cedar Rapids

Also survived by seven grandchildren.
