Peggy Louise Axton, age 76, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1947, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. She was a retired office manager, homemaker, and church volunteer. Mary Louise "Peggy" Gunther was born on March 30, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late John Raymond and Myrtle Emeline (Davis) Gunther. She attended North Jr. High School, Colorado Springs High School ('53) and graduated from Blair Business College where she met her husband, Ralph Axton. They were married July 12, 1957 and were married 40 years. Peggy worked at Colorado Interstate Gas Company, Security Savings and Loan, Texas Instruments, and Rocky Mountain Roosters/Austrees. She has been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1960 and served on the wedding committee for more than 30 years. She was a loyal member of Alpha Iota International Honorary Business Women's Sorority for 56 years. She enjoyed her Bible Study, countless friends, knitting, reading, and participation in CSHS Alumni. Peggy is survived by her four children, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1997, and her sister, Katherine "Katie" Osborn in 2003.
