She had formerly served on the board of directors for Penn State College Agricultural Cooperative Extension Service, had taught classes in applique and quilting at Westmoreland County Community College, had been a reader for Westmoreland County 4-H, member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greater Irwin Area Quilty Guild, Sew What Girls and had received various awards in quilting. Surviving are her husband, Leonard J. Jr.; a son, Joseph D. of Greensburg; a daughter, Mariclaire Geier of Atlanta; her mother, Elizabeth Schmidt of Fort Wayne; brothers Jerry and David Schmidt, both of Fort Wayne; and a sister, Judy Frank of Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Schmidt. Mass of Christian burial was held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, Pa. Burial was in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township, Pa.
