In Memory Of
AK1 US Navy
The date on the marker is wrong. David died in open heart surgery on June 4, 2001. We met and were married earlier that year. I don't know who ordered the memorial stone. His remains are not buried there, part of them were put in his favorite fishing stream, the rest of them went back to Alaska with me, and were spread in the waters where I kayaked, my 49th state in honor of my husband, who made it all possible for me. I finished kayaking all 50 states last year on my 70th birthday, because David said "You must not stop living."
