Batrex (Beatrice) Carter was born in Lunenburg, MA, November 18, 1753, the daughter of Thomas and Betty (Sawyer) Carter. She married, February 25, 1773, Samuel Tarbell, the son of Eleazer Tarbell. Batrex and Samuel settled in the west part of Rindge, NH, the same year of their marriage. Soon after Samuel built a mill on the stream of Pearly Pond, now called Tarbell Brook. Batrex and Samuel had two children. Samuel was a soldier in the revolution and he was active in municipal affairs. He died April 5, 1828. Batrex died August 20, 1839, aged 85 years.
