Leota Maxine Robinson, 87, of Whispering Way, South Charleston, passed away on April 6, 2012, at Hubbard House West after a short illness.

She was born in Sissonville, "at Pigeon Roost on Grapevine" on March 12, 1925, to the late John Franklin and Icy Lura (Burgess) Robinson.

Leota lived a life filled with the nurturing of children, through her love, her laughter, her unwavering support and her ever present and unrelenting faith. She spent her entire lifetime raising children as a nanny, a teacher, a homemaker and most of all, a loving best friend. She raised her own younger siblings and dozens of children throughout the Kanawha Valley. She was a constant, loving, and motherly presence and example in the lives of countless children throughout their entire lives. She will be remembered lovingly as what she was to so many, a mother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend, and as a sweet, faithful, loyal and loving woman.

In addition to her parents, Leota was preceded in death by brother, Kermit; and sisters, Lexie Jones, Lura Baldwin, Gertrude Taylor and Yvonne Beverage.

She is survived by sisters, Edith Kreider (Clair) of Hershey, Pa., and Justine Abbott of Clio; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and especially her "children," Michael Joseph Midkiff, Susan Midkiff Hess, Travis Michael Joseph Midkiff, David Lee Feinberg, Sarah Elizabeth Feinberg and Matthew Edward Feinberg.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with the Rev. Kenton Kreider officiating.

Burial will follow in Sissonville Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
