Helen Joyce Suter Whitcomb, 82, daughter of Estes and Helen Suter, sister of John, Beatrice and Leonard died peacefully at home as she had desired after a prolonged illness on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Her daughter Karen was at her side. She was extremely grateful to have been able to be visited by her close friends and church family as well as her own family in the days prior to her death. She taught school, played in the mid cities symphony and was an award winning author of numerous books and poetry. She dedicated herself to many civic, community and neighborhood activities but a huge part of her life was her church family; her passion for music and writing were incorporated into her 40 years of choir direction and music ministry at the Grand Prairie Seventh-day Adventist Church. although a Grand Prairie resident for 53 years, much of her heart and in latter year, her time, was spent in her beloved Black Hills and Badlands where she was born and raised. The Whitcomb family would like to especially thank and bring recognition to James Hosler, M.D., Anees Saleemi, M.D., Tony Chong and Betty Robinson for their compassionate care and assistance.
