On August 24, 1957 Robert C. Frazier, 41, was instantly killed by a rockslide at the site of the Glen Canyon Dam near Page, Arizona. He was then working at the bottom of the canyon on the westerly side of the Colorado River where his employer, Mountain States Construction Company, was engaged in driving a tunnel through which to divert the water of the river while the dam was being constructed.

GLEN CANYON - Tons of rock fell from the high rim on the Colorado River's west bank early Saturday crushing to death a Tooele, Utah man who was walking toward diversion tunnels of the Glen Canyon Dam. Robert Frazier, 41, died in a.m. from injuries suffered in the slide. Dr George R. Aiken was flown from Kanab, Utah and decided not to move Mr. Frazier from the site, due to his serious condition. He died of a fractured skull, a broken neck, and multiple other fractures without regaining consciousness. Mr. Frazier's wife was being flown from their home, P.O. Box 515, Fredonia, Arizona, to the dam when she heard over the plane's radio that her husband was dead. She was returned to Fredonia, was treated for shock and put under sedation. Mr. Frazier, with his wife and four children, had been living in Fredonia since October 1956."

"Falling Rocks Kill Worker at Damsite
KANAB (UP) — A construction worker at the Glen Canyon Dam project was crushed to death, becoming the second fatality at the construction site, officials reported today. Buford Persinger, 38, Spokane, Washington, was killed when crushed by a slab of falling rock on Monday. He was working on the powerhouse access tunnel for Gibson-Roberts Construction Co., subcontractors. He was killed while operating a drill from a jumbo rig on the river-level portal of the tunnel. The first fatality at the damsite was recorded Aug. 29 when Robert Frazier, 38, Fredonia, AZ, was killed by falling rock."

Mabel’s father was Edgar E. Chapman born 1838 in England, died Winona, Minnesota, 4 Aug 1910. Mabel’s mother was Emma Miller, born 1849 in England, died 31 Jan 1928 in Tower City, ND. They had 12 children.

LaDean Hurd Brown, daughter of Pearl Robinson and first husband Hurd, buried in Kanab, Cemetery and has an obit on find a grave. She grew up as LaDean Pointer.
It was fun to talk to you. My daughter and her husband’s most favorite place to ride their motorcycles is in the UP. I’ll bet you were in sunny AZ this winter.
