Mr. McCardle was a native and lifelong resident of Copiah County except for three years he served in the U. S. Navy on the U. S. S. Apache during WWII. He received the Purple Heart after being injured at the Battle of Okinawa. He was a dairy farmer and timber man and worked for Georgia-Gulf in the Laboratory for over 10 years. Mr. McCardle was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Mr. McCardle was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Mullican McCardle; son, Russell Carroll (Butch) McCardle of Hazlehurst; daughter, Sharron McCardle Guild and husband Don of Jackson; grandchildren, Milton Carroll (Butch) McCardle and wife Ginny and Casey McCardle of Hazlehurst, Nathan Cameron Guild, Davis Carroll Guild, Lindsay Corinne Guild and Cameron St. Clair Guild of Jackson, Jennifer Guild Trihoulis of Hattiesburg, and Grant Guild of Fayetteville, N. C.; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church.
