Mrs. Grace Ellen Deskins, age 75, of the Drill section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Thursday (March 29, 2012) in a Johnson City, Tennessee hospital. Born July 4, 1936 in Drill, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Carter Wilson and Ethel Zora Fuller. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo Osborne and Carter Wilson, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years and 4 months, Billy Joe Deskins of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Deskins and Patricia Lester and husband, Larry all of Honaker; five sons, Edward Dean Deskins and wife, Margaret, Darryl Wayne Deskins, Larry Lynn Deskins and wife, Donna, Gary Lee Deskins and wife, Jennifer all of Honaker, and Billy Joe Deskins, Jr. and wife, Sherry of South Carolina; four brothers, Stanley Kyle Osborne and James Stephen Osborne both of Honaker, Don Wilson of Gap Mills, West Virginia and Walter "Sonny" Wilson of Lewisburg, West Virginia; three sisters, Peggy Jackson of South Carolina, Sonya Roberts of Princeton, West Virginia, and Deborah Johnson of Lewisburg, West Virginia; grandchildren, Dean Deskins, Courtney Stallard, Nathaniel Damron, Cody Deskins, Blake Deskins, Erika Deskins, Garry Deskins, Jr., Jeanie Deskins, Jordan Deskins, Hunter Lester, Trevor Lester, Shannon Deskins, and Shawn Deskins; four great-grandchildren, Leigha Deskins, Emma Yates, Lexi Stallard, and Dalton Deskins; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Ken Meredith and Rev. Don Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Saturday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Harrison officiating.
