Barry Alan Bates, age 54, of Poyen passed away March 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 9, 1957 in Malvern the son of Uhel and Mildred (Hicks) Bates. Barry was a graduate of Poyen High School and worked in the logging industry as a truck driver with his father. He was a member of Poyen Assembly of God Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Uhel and Mildred Bates, brother-in-law Scott McJunkins and father-in-law Ford McJunkins, Sr.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, to whom he was married on April 2, 1993, Sherrie (McJunkins) Bates; daughter Tabitha and husband, Tony Blank of Poyen; brother Donnie and wife Ester Bates of Poyen; nieces and nephews, John Bates and wife Jessica, Shana Mendina and husband Kyle, and Amber Ernest and husband Steven; great nieces and great nephews, Brittany and Morgan Medina and Carmeron and Spencer Quick; mother-in-law, Nettie Mcjunckin, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be Friday, March 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern.
Funeral service will be Saturday, March 31st at 2:00 PM in the Regency Chapel with Rev Larry Stinson officiating. Interment will follow at Lindsey-Poyen Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kyle Quick, William Lawrence, Jr., Tracy Hicks, Steven Hicks, Larry Westfall, Mike robbins, Matt Mendina and Steven Earnest. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Nichols, Perry Nichos, Dean Lowery, Odyssey Hospice Team, Salita, Brenda, Kim and Penny, and Dr. Rhonda Fentry and Team.
