Simon Peter was born 05 June 1814, died 05 Nov. 1859. He was born on the family farm in Capt. Bonner's Dist. in Morgan Co.,Ga., near the present town of Ruthledge, Ga. The treaties of 1821 and 1825 when the Indians opened up lands to the South and West. The Bloodworth family sold their land in Morgan Co. in 1818 to George W. Fuller. They evidently moved to Monroe (now Lamar)Co., Ga., as land opened up. Marriage records show in Marr. book A, p97 show Simon Peter marrying Elizabeth Clare Cranford on 31 March 1836. When Simon Peter died, 8 minor children were left in the home. After Simon's death, Thomas J. Hamlet applied for and was apptd adm. of the estate. In a short time he had disposed of and/or acquired most of it. It is believed by many that the adm. took adv. of Elizabeth's inability to protect the estate due to ignorance of business and legal affairs. Records of these transactions can be found in the Tallapoosa Co. Courthouse.
