Carl S. Koenig passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at a local hospital. He was born September 22, 1928, in Falls City, Texas to Henry Herman and Irene (Harp) Koenig. Mr. Koenig was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Exxon Mobil after 38 years of service as a General Services Supervisor. He was a member of the Exxon Retiree's Club. He enjoyed hunting and photography. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Koenig is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Aline Mrha and Geraldine Collins; and one granddaughter, Jessica Koenig. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy Koenig, of Baytown; daughter, Mary Kathleen Akers, of Baytown; sons, David Koenig, of Katy and Stephen Koenig and wife, Tammy, of Baytown; brother, Robert Koenig and wife, Georgia, of Decatur, Alabama; grandchildren, Justin Koenig, Darren Koenig, Paul Sage Stephens, and John Carl Koenig; great grandchildren, Maribella, Lillian, Elizabeth, Tillman, Zoey, and Clayton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 15, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Dwight Canizares as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Capital Campaign, 1907 Carolina, Baytown, TX. 77520.
