James Robert Henderson, age 71, of Yellville, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born in Harrisburg, Arkansas on September 29, 1940 to Robert Henry and Wanda Lee (Matlock) Henderson. He was a surveyor with Henderson Survey Company, and Surveyor for Marion County for 30 years. He was a member of Yellville Missionary Baptist in Yellville where he served as deacon, song leader, and Sunday school teacher. He was also an avid golfer, a Christian man; loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married the former Mary Jane Hickey on December 31, 1961.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, of the home;
two daughters: Benita Simmons, and Sandra Johnson and husband, James, all of Yellville;
three brothers: George Henderson of Yellville; Edward Henderson, of Mesa, Arizona; and Johnny Penrod of Toledo, Ohio;
one sister, Shirley Ply of Yellville;
and four grandchildren: Stephanie Hopkins, Peyton Hopkins, Ryan Hopkins, and Shalea Hopkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Mr. Henderson will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.
Funeral service will be Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 10:00 am at Yellville Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Wallis and Bro. Carl Cravens officiating.
Interment will follow at Georges Creek Cemetery near Yellville.
Pallbearers will be James Johnson, Stevie Henderson, Daniel Hickey, Brent Rozeboom, Jimmy Hopkins, Bill Henderson, and Willie Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be all his golfing buddies.
An account has been established at all Arvest Banks to receive memorials in James Henderson's name.
