Both spellings of her last name are included so that her memorial is searchable.
Died at the age of 20 years. She was trying to go straight after a life of prostitution but was murdered by her pimp Fred Skinner AKA Fred Davis. Described as young and full of life her murder was said to be so horrific as to shake the town to the core. She was shot four times in the back. Stories vary but one states that after she died, she was being carried to the cemetery. The women of the town decided she would not rest with the other good folk in the Bullfrog-Rhyolite graveyard on the south of town. The men carried her coffin back to town and buried her not far from the jail and the red light district where she used to work. Another version has her body taken to Ballard, Washington.

Another source states:
Isabelle Sadie PETERMAN was born 2 Oct 1887 in Battle Creek, Madison Co., NE. She died Jan 3 1908 in Rhyolite, NV, and was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Seattle, King Co., WA. Also according to the January 17, 1908 (which was a Friday), Ballard, WA. newspaper, page 3, Isabelle was taken to W.S. Mayfield undertaking parlors. The body was accompanied by C.C. Haskett , husband of Isabelle. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Peterman, who resided near Woodland Park Hill. The funeral was held at Mayfield's chapel Monday (which would have been the 13th) afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Another source states:
Isabelle and her husband CC Haskett were living in Colorado when CC got himself into trouble by forging a Judge's signature on some legal paperwork. A warrant was issued for his arrest. To avoid prosecution, he fled. He asked his friend Fred Skinner to take care of his wife until he found a safe haven and could send for her. After a period of time, he sent for her but she no longer wanted to have anything to do with CC and stayed with Fred. Isabelle and Fred heard about the mining going on in Rhyolite and that there were jobs so they left Colorado. After Isabelle's death, the sheriff found Isabelle's mom's name & address in her personal papers. After notifying the mom of Isabelle's death, he received instructions from the mom that he was to notify Isabelle's husband. The husband came to Rhyolite to "take charge" of her body. He took her back to Ballard (now a part of Seattle), Washington, to her family.
