David Franklin Copenhaver was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, March 23, 1828.
He departed from this life Jan 18, 1913 aged 84 years, 9 mo, and 26 days.
When a young man he came to Indiana locating near the town of Bremen, afterward moving to Locke township, Elkhart county and then for many years resided in the town of Wakarusa.
On May 4th, 1848 he was united in marriage to Delilah Henninger and together they lived in love and happiness for 56 years. She went before him, June 11, 1906.
To this union thirteen children were born, seven sons and three daughters still live, the others passed away.
Brother Copenhaver became a Christian and for over sixty years fought the fight and kept the faith. He was one of the early members of the Methodist Episcopal church and was one of its most devoted and enthusiastic supporters and the church always had confidence in him.
For a number of years he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs Joseph Mitchel of Edwardsburg, Michigan. It was at her home last Friday that he passed away.
The funeral was held at the M E church here Monday afternoon, Rev Boase officiating. Burial at South Union.
