Mrs. Alma W. Akers, 78, New Stanton RD 1, near Middletown, died in her home at 12:03 a.m. Sunday. She was born September 5, 1885, at Derry, the daughter of Dorsey M. and Virginia Smith Weston. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Middletown, the W.S.W.S. of the church, and the W.C.T.U. of Middletown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Akers, and a daughter, Mrs. Verne M. Hughes, both in 1952. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Collins, Wilkinsburg; seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Teets and Mrs. Amelia Diehl, both of New Stanton RD. Friends will be received at the James M. Beatty Funeral Home, Route 136, Madison, where services will be held at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. Robert Blank. Interment will follow in Cole's Cemetery in Derry.
