MONAHAN, Janet
Born March 16, 1940. Passed away February 10, 2010, in Lancaster, California, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her two children, Michael (Nancy) and Cynthia; four grandchildren: Bryce, Blythe, Michael and Gary; brother George and sister, Corrie; mother, Genevieve, age 98, "Grany Janny", as she was known to step-daughters Gayle Failla and Cheryl Furtado, three step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Her marriage to the late Herb Monahan blessed them with two children. It was later in life that she met James Brockway who became the love of her life and companion. They shared a lasting, loving and forever friendship that included their fellowship with members of the Elks, their involvement with the Desert Sunrise Camper Club, traveling and life together each day. Janet was a "get up and go" lady who founded the "Tuesday Hummers Card Club" twelve years ago and it still continues to be an active card playing social group. Seven years ago her Red Hat Society involvement developed to the point that she started the "Red Hot Red Hatters of the Antelope Valley". She was a member of the Antelope Valley Emblem Club #76. Janet leaves numerous, valued friends who have the memory of a laughing, fun-loving lady who enjoyed life and sharing her time with others. A private family interment will be held. The Emblem Club #76 will conduct a memorial service to celebrate the life of Janet, and it will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the Elks Lodge, 240 East Ave K, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Elks Major Project.
