Shirley Jean (Ludlum) Shultz, 65, of Cadar Vale, KS passed away at her home Sunday, March 18, 2012. Cremation has been effected. A memorial service has been scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Church of Christ in Cedar Vale, KS. A graveside service will also be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Ellsmore Cemetery, Ellsmore, KS.
Shirley Jean (Ludlum) Shultz was born February 15, l947, to Arthur and Maggie (Laver) Ludlum at Doctor Neffitt's office in Moran, KS. She attended Prairie Hall Grade School, and Moran Grade School. She graduated in May of 1965 from Moran High School. Shirly then went to Kansas City, MO to a business college where she received a degree in business.
Shirley worked at the general offices of Western Auto for 18 months before moving back to the Moran area. She then worked about three years for the Neosho Valley Creamery in Erie, KS. After raising her family she worked for Wal-Mart in Blackwell, OK, and Winfield, KS.
Shirley married Marvin Shultz at the family farm on May 9, 1971. They lived in Neodesha, KS, before moving to Nowata, OK, and eventually settling in Braman, OK. for 16 years where she raised her family. The couple then moved to the Winfield, KS area and have lived the last 10 years in Cedar Vale, KS.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin of Cedar Vale, KS; children, Edward Shultz and his wife Kelle of Blackwell, OK; Annette Dean and her husband Chad of Madison, KS; Vicki Brewer and her husband John of Columbia, MO; brothers Alfred Ludlum of Rozel, KS; Howard Ludlum of Lone Elm, KS; Gary Ludlum of LaHarpe, KS; sister, Delores (Ludlum) Goyette of Americus, KS; and nine grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
A memorial has been established for the Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
