Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iota for Amy Amelia Frey Bertrand, 86, who died Friday, March 16, 2012 at 4:45 p.m. at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mrs. Bertrand is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, John Daniel "J. D." Bertrand, Sr. of Iota; three sons, John Daniel Bertrand, Jr. and his wife Wanda of Iowa, James Quillan Bertrand and his wife Tonia of Iota and Joseph Lionel Bertrand of Iota; one sister, Catherine F. Fontenot of Jennings; three brothers, Sylvester Frey and Bobby Frey both of Iota, Harold Frey of Hackberry; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bertrand was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lena Prather Frey; three sisters, Clara F. Lejeune, Cecelia F. Leger, and Mania Marie Frey; five brothers, Walter, August "Red", Frank, Jimmy, and Richard Frey.
