Esther H. Dirks, 89, of Galt, died Oct. 27. She was born Esther H. Gustafson on June 25, 1916, in Gregory, S.D.
Mrs. Dirks and her husband moved to Northern California and settled in the Bay Area. She was employed in the electronic assembly department at Systron-Donner, a part of the aerospace industry, for 15 years. She and her husband relocated to Galt two years ago to be near their daughter. Since retiring over 30 years ago, she and her husband traveled extensively. She also enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Harry W. Dirks, of Galt; sons, Richard Lee Dirks, of San Jose, Harry Gene Dirks, of Concord , and Thomas J. Dirks, of Benicia: daughter, DeAnna Eddy, of Galt; brother, Corky Gustafson, of Paso Robles; sister, Mildred Henderson, of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Henry James Dirks; daughter, Karol Garlock; brothers, Dale Gustafson, Gene Gustafson and Don Gustafson; and sisters, Mae Kacirek and Betty Novak.
