Birth: 1828
Death: Nov. 28, 1895

George Barnes, the first child, was born in 1828 and died while attending services in the Methodist Episcopal Church on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1895. He is buried on his own plot in Southern. He married Martha Floyd in 1857, and they had three sons, Frank, George, and Clyde. Their daughters were Mrs. Wm. Nance (Allie), Nat, and Annie. They resided for many years on East South Street to the rear of Allen's Main Street house. Later, they moved to East Main Street, south side, 4th house west from Lincoln Ave. Natt, Annie and George never worked, apparently living on income from their father's estate.
