Birth: Apr. 21, 1758
Death: Feb. 9, 1845

Zachariah was the first child and son of Renney Belue and his first wife, (unknown). Early documents show Zachariah using the surname BELUE, but later show he was using the surname name spelling as BELEW. It is not known where he was born in 1758. His father, Renney Belue, moved to Union Dist., SC in 1769 and Zachariah lived there until 1827. He had eight siblings, Reuben, Susannah, Renny Jr., Sarah, Judith, Elizabeth, Jesse, and William. He served in the SC Militia under Col. Brandon during the Revolutionary War and is said to have received several wounds. He married Mary Bullington before 1783, and they had eight children, Renny, Sarah, James Perry, Hannah, Elizabeth, Samuel, Susannah, Zachariah Calvin. All these children except James Perry used the surname spelling BELEW. With his last son's name Zachariah Calvin, some have added Calvin and show his name as Zachariah Calvin Belew Sr. There were never any legal documents found using Calvin or Sr., nor did he ever sign his name with Calvin or Sr. He only used Zachariah Belue early in his life and later, Zachariah Belew until his death. Zachariah and Mary moved to Lawrence County, TN in 1827, and are buried in the Second Creek Cemetery. Note: I found 2 memorials for Zachariah Belew, #12185572. The links to his children's memorials are on the Zachariah Belew Memorial.
