Edgar Scott Hand, born in Alabama, was the elder of two sons born to Arthur Jimmerson Hand and Martha Arminta Bishop Bailey. His brother, Walter Hand, is also buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

He married Anna Lee Norman in 1887. They were the parents of seven children:
1. Adolphus J. Hand born July 1888
2. Lena hand born Jan. 1890
3. Ella Hand born Dec. 1892
4. Nettie Lee Hand born Aug. 1898
5. Malcie ?? M. Hand born about 1901
6. Anna Elizabeth Hand born about 1906
7. Bessie L Hand born about 1908

In 1943, he married a widow, Versa Cola Polk CROMER.

He migrated to Tift County, Georgia in the early 1900s along with other members of the Hand family.
