Mrs. Josephine W. Mathe, 69, of 607 North Jefferson died Saturday morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient two days. Born in Ionia, February 7, 1904, she was the daughter of Michael and Ann Hacker Dreger. She lived her entire life in Ionia. She was a member of Johns Lutheran church and attended the Lutheran school.

She was employed at the Sorosis garment factory of Ionia and also Ypsilanti Reed Furniture company. June 6, 1923 she was married at St. Johns Lutheran church to Kurt Mathe and he died January 12, 1962.

She was a member of the Ladies Aid of St. Johns Lutheran church and also Luther society of the church.

Surviving are two sons, Richard of Muskegon, and Robert of St. Paul, Minn; three daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Gibbs and Mrs. Marion Whitlock both of Portland and Mrs. Helen Fletcher of Ionia; 11 grandchildren; brother, William Dreger of Otsego; two sisters, Mrs. Elinore Teichmann of Ionia and Mrs. Ruth Drake of Muskegon.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran church. Rev. A. R. Gallert will officiate and interment will be at Balcom Cemetery. Family will be at the Leddick funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial has been established for St. Johns Lutheran church.
