German Lieutenant General. Commander of the 211th Infantry Division of the Wehrmacht from September 1, 1939, to February 4, 1942. He took part in the Battle of France but was killed in action by partisans in Poland on the Ozarow-Strecke Opatow-Annapol, commanding the 174th Reserve Division at the time of his death. There is a Polish war memorial at the spot.
