Russell Anthony Wilcox of Crowder, OK died Saturday, March 3, 2012 in McAlester at the age of 80. Russell was born April 7, 1931 to C.K. and Ruth (Holland) Wilcox in Luther, TX. He married Emma Joyce Nale on April 23, 1951 in Ft. Smith, AR. He attended trade school for a HVAC Technician. He worked as a Building Contractor for 22 years and built many of the homes in Crowder. In 1981, he worked as a HVAC Technician at the Arrowhead Lodge and then for the Regional Parks and Recreation Department for the State of Oklahoma until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Crowder School Board for 32 years and a member of the Crowder First Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood-working, refrigeration and politics. He is survived by his wife, Emma Joyce Wilcox of the home; children, Russell A. "Tony" Wilcox, Jr. of Crowder, Cathy Kitchens and husband, Steve of Crowder; John Wilcox and wife, Lori of Crowder, April Sinclair and husband, Clint of Grove, J. Paul Wilcox and wife, Tiffany of McAlester; and Dana Wilcox of McAlester; brother, Kent Wilcox of Aztec, NM; sisters, Laveda Leak of Crowder, Kathryn Casey of Ferdinand, IN and Marilyn Pinkstaff of Blackwell; Fifteen Grandchildren; Seventeen Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, C.K. and Ruth Wilcox; sisters, Jettie Mae Hammonds and Cecilia Scott; and, brothers, John Marion Wilcox and Phillip Holland Wilcox. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Crowder First Baptist Church with Rev. James Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Crowder Cemetery, Crowder, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be: Erik Kitchens, Steve Kitchens, Kurt Wilcox, Brian Wilcox, Jackson Wilcox, Tracy Wilcox, Ryan Wilcox, Kaleb Swboni, Shaedyn Wilcox and Charlie Kitchens. Honorary pallbearers will be: Michael Leak, Ken Chambers, Bob Yount, Tommy Freeman, Jimmy Ramsey, Ron Gragg, Wes LaVarnway, Wallace Wilcox and Kenny Casey. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Chaney Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester, OK.
