Robert W. "Bob" Brandon

Robert W. "Bob" Brandon III, 72, of Martin died Feb. 27, 2012, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Martin First United Methodist Church, with burial following there in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin 4-7 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday. The family will arrive at the church at noon Thursday.

The Rev. Paul McAdoo will officiate and pallbearers will be Danny Harris, Marvin Alexander, Tommy Martin, Dale Dolding, Jonah McKenzie and Wendell Cates. Honorary pallbearers will be Grant Mesimer, Jimmy Smith, Bob Peeler, Steve Cannon, Grover Page, Dr. O.K. Smith, Bink Fuller, Bob Bates, David Murphy, Tommy Bradberry, Tommy Akin, Dr. Lloyd Duncan, Harry Lee Caudle, Warren Caudle, Lonnie McQueen, George Mesimer, Pat McDurmon, Charles McWherter, Sal Raspa, Joe Hill, Dale Overton, Billy Ford, Mark Ford, Mike Ford, Maury Ford, Wendell Alexander, Joe Rainey, Rex Smith, Dr. William Dale Perminter Sr., Doug McDurmon and Billy Adams.

He was born Oct 23, 1939, and was a graduate of the former Martin High School and of Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. An attorney, he was the retired director of Northwest Tennessee Development District and had been an alderman for the City of Martin. He served for years on the board of directors of City State Bank and had been a member of the 1970 Tennessee Constitutional Convention that equalized property taxes between farmers and homeowners.
He was a member of City Lodge No. 551 and was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Scottish Rite Al Chymia Temple and a member of American Legion Post 55.

He is survived by his daughter and her fiancé, Lee (Brandon) Mesimer and Robert Conley Jr., both of Martin; his brother, Wayne Brandon of Clifton; three grandchildren, Madison Mesimer, MaryKirk Mesimer and Grant Mesimer, all of Martin; his niece and her husband, Kelly and Darrin Parks of Union City; his nephew and his wife, Kirk and Vanessa Brandon of Nashville; two great-nieces, Alex Parks and Gussie Parks, both of Union City; and his great-nephew, Karson Brandon of Nashville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances "Lady" (Harris) and Robert W. Brandon Jr.
