Waldo Porter Burns was born in Bolivar, Polk Co., Missouri. He was the third of nine children born to Proctor Mandeville Burns and his wife, Tabitha Agnes McKinney-Burns.
Waldo Porter Burns was married to Lena May Faust in 1891. As of the 1900 U.S. Federal Census Waldo and May were living in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Ca. They were living with their daughter Loie born in Nov 1891 8 years old, son Harold W. born in April 1895 5 years old and daughter Nellie L. born May 1897 3 years old. Loie was born in Missouri and Harold and Nellie were born in California. Waldo was a farmer.
By the time of the 1910 Census, Waldo was living in Orcutt Ca., with his wife Lena M. his son Harold, daughter Nellie and daughter Ruby M. age 6 years old born in California.
By the time of the 1920 Census, Waldo was living with his second wife, Mary E., and their children in the Tipperary Flats area of Fillmore township, Ventura Co. Ca. Living with the were their son Wilbur who is 5 years old, daughter Thelma O. who is 3 years old, daughter Bernice P. who is 9 months old and Waldo's mother, Tabitha who is 75 years old and widowed. Waldo was now working as a gasoline stillman.
By the time of the 1930 Census, Waldo and Mary were living in Los Angeles, Ca. with their children Wilbur L. who is 15 years old, Thelma O. who is 13 years old, Bernice P. who is 11 years old, son Dell C. who is 8 years old, son Howard E. who is 6 years old and Waldo's mother Tabitha A. who is 85 years old. Waldo is now working as a watchman for a lumber yard.
