James W. Burkholder, 74, of 1513 Main Street, East Earl died Saturday at home after a lengthly illness.
He worked at Surge Dairy Equipment and Conestoga Wood Specialties. He owned and operated Burkholder Vacuum Line Cleaning, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Petra Christian Fellowship, where he assisted in Sunday School.
He enjoyed woodworking and creating mechanical devices.
Born in East Earl Township, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Grace Witwer Burkholder. He was married 52 years to Pauline D. Martin Burkholder.
Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Jeanette E., wife of Calvin Sauder, of Reinholds; Brenda J., wife of David Harnish, of Landisville; Doris J., wife of Dean Sauder, of Lancaster; and Darlene, wife of Randy Blank, of East Earl; three sons, Ronald J. husband of Pam Graybill Burkholder, of Harrisburg; Galen E., husband of Marie Landis Burkholder, of Landisville; Dale.R., husband of Thelma Leaman Burkholder, of Leola; 17 grandchildren; two brothers; Leroy, husband of Laverne Burkholder, of Ephrata; and George, husband of Dorothy Burkholder, of New Holland; and four sisters, Catharine, wife of Roy Messner, Helen wife of Howard Messner, Ruth, wife of Melvin Hornberger, all of East Earl; and Grace, wife of Richard Brubaker of Lancaster.
