Leonard Whitmill Beanland was born in Georgia and was a son of Edward W. and Mary G. Beanland. The family moved to Maury county Tennessee where his father (who was a Veteran of the War of 1812) died in 1815.
He married Matilda Bowden; daughter of James and Elizabeth (McCord) Bowden and they went to Morgan county Missouri in the 1830s. The family was strongly Confederate during the Civil War. Leonards' mother Mary Beanland married secondly to Peter Williams and after the death of Mr. Williams lived with her son Leonard in Morgan county and she is buried in the same cemetery as her son and his family but under the name of Mary G. Beanland (not Williams).Research by Carl Martin
