John was born in Nevada, IA and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was farmer and also worker as a janitor for North High School in Des Moines. John was a WW2 U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Brown of Des Moines; 2 step daughters, Mary Van Dorn of Clinton and Alice Srukel of Eveleth, MN; and a nephew, Daune Severson of Ames. He was preceded in death by his first wife, LaVonne Brown & second wife Edith Brown .
