May Ellen Morris/Caywood was shot four times by her husband, Melvin James Caywood, while working at the Midway cafe (the one shot that was fatal went though part of her heart). There is now a different business where the Midway cafe was located at La Junta, Texas - midway between Springtown and Azle on highway 199 (that goes through Azle to Fort Worth, Texas).

Ellen's story hasn't ended, because her children and grandchildren are still living it. The ink of time has blotted out the severe pain of her tragic death. However, time flowing throughout eternity can never erase the treasure of love she gave to each of her children and grandchildren.

Always a silent hurt, many a silent tear,
but always a beautiful memory of one we loved so dear.
God gave us strength to bear it, and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you...no one will ever know.

Her children are:
Donal Paul Caywood
Ronald Lee Caywood
Morris Finley Caywood
Dorothy Ann Caywood
Ellen Patricia Caywood
Peggy Arlene Caywood
Wilfred Henry (Skip) Caywood
