Year and location of birth was taken from U.S. Army enlistment in 1837.

Matthew was my 3rd Great Grandfather
He was the son of John Holybee and Phoebe Bayless Brown Holybee.

Known Siblings:Probably more...
Hezakiah Washington Sr. Holybee 18161894
Samuel Holybee 18171864

On Oct 7, 1837 He enlisted in the Tennessee Militia along with his two brothers Hezikiah and Samuel, 4th Infantry Co. F at Ft. Cass, Charlston, TN. This was during the era of removing the Cherokees from their lands thus creating "The Trail of Tears". He was discharged Oct 7, 1840 at Ft. Gibson, Arkansas.

Matthew married Mary Ann Hart in 1846 Crawford, Arkansas.
They had 5 children:

*Oranna Frances Holybee 18471922 (My 2nd GG Mother)
*Phoebe Jane Holybee 18491911
*Penwill Holybee 18511851

(*I believe John Francis Holybee is John Henrys son tho I can't find John Henry, and Mary Alice Holybee Lee 1889-1959 was his daughter)
*Barbara Ann Holybee 18561863

Matthew and wife were living in Ravenna, Fannin County, Texas when they died, I have the Same day of death for them both. I have no other information on Matthew or his wife Mary Ann Hart at this time.

Honoring their lives here on Earth.
