Mrs. Nelson died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home in Sulphur Springs.
Peggy L. Nelson was born June 12, 1932, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Samuel David Stephens and Mildred Florence Webb.
She married Sidney Elmer Nelson in California. He preceded her in death in October 1964.
Mrs. Nelson was a waitress and of the Baptist faith. She was also a lieutenant of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW for over 30 years.
Survivors include daughters Julia Brown, and husband, Buddy, Millie Rosser, and husband, Bill, Sharon Thomas, and husband, Joe, and Susan Shaw, and husband, Jeff Ferguson; sons Morton Lamb, Samuel "Thomas" Lamb, and wife, Debbie, and Sidney "Shorty" Nelson Jr, and wife, Tanya; brothers Henry Penson, and wife, Carly Jo, James Penson, and wife, Cathy; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Thomas Lee Lamb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8560 or Sunny Springs Nursing Home.
