ARTELL on 14 June 1882 at Ironton, Charlevoix county, MIchigan and last to Frances ZANG on 24 October 1888 at Elk Rapids, Antrim county, Michigan. Do not know what became of second wife, Mary E ARTELL. He lived in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Alabama and both Michigan peninsulas. His father, Hugh Foy HANNIGAN came from Ireland, probably during the Potato Famine. Daniel was raised Catholic but wife Frances coerced him into being confirmed Protestant, with their children, at Elk Rapids, Michigan. He was a collector of hats. Until he was injured in Elk Rapids train yards on way home, he worked as foreman at iron smelting furnaces ... beginning with Fayette on Garden Peninsula in Delta county, Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he lived with first wife, Mary Shea.
