|Death: ||Aug., 1849|
William was born about 1790. It is not proven that he is buried in the Ray Cemetery; however, his son Willis who died in 1844 is buried there. William made his will in Linn Co. in 1849 and it is logical that he would be buried with his son.
William was born in NC and moved with his parents to Garrard Co. KY at a young age. He married Nancy Allegy in Garrard Co. 29 May 1808, Bond by Giles Allegy.
William relocated to Missouri and made his will in the County of Linn...to my youngest son, James Ray...to be equally divided among my other children except Lucinda Singleton, former wife of William R. Singleton and Willis Ray, both deceased; to my son Andrew Jackson Ray; to my daughter, Martha Jane Williams, wife of Jordon Williams. I appoint my son Zachariah Ray and son-in-law Jordon Williams as executors. After my death the remanant of estate not herein disposed of shall be equally divided between my children: Zachariah Ray, Elizabeth Williams, Andrew Jackson Ray, Martha Jane Williams and James Ray and heir of my daughter, Polly Reynolds in the state of Kentucky and the children of my daughter, Louisa Ellis, wife of Thomas Ellis; and the three children Elizabeth, Granville, and Milton Green Singleotn of Ben M. Singleton by my daughter, Sarah Ann Singleton, deceased. Made my mark this 13 Aug. 1849 in presence of Meredith Davis, Jesse Watkins, Proven 3 Sept. 1849 Enoch Kemper, Clerk.
