Jerry D. Zimmerman, a resident of Mojave, CA for 38 years, passed away on January 31, 2012 after losing his very long battle with vascular dementia. He was born to the late Irvin & Lenore Zimmerman on April 6, 1927. He was raised in Abbyville & Satanta, Kansas until he joined the Army in 1945 where he served as a finance clerk. He was married to Nona Zimmerman for 56 years until her death in 2005. He worked as an electrician for Ashland Oil and Columbia Chemical his entire working career. He enjoyed golf, flying RC airplanes, square dancing and bowling. He was a Life Member in VFW Lane Day Post #3166 in Liberal, Kansas. He also served many years as a CSU volunteer with the Kern County Sheriff's office and won many commendations for his tireless dedication. __He is survived by his brother, Douglas Zimmerman and sister-in-law Lois Zimmerman of Beaver. OK. He is also survived by his eldest daughter, Karen Voorhees and her husband Gene of San Antonio, TX; eldest son, Gary Zimmerman and his wife Belinda of Mojave, CA; youngest son, Kevin Zimmerman and his wife Jackie of Kernersville, NC, and youngest daughter, Kristi Diotte and husband Manuel of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held in Mojave, California at the Stickel Mortuary on February 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a military inurnment at the Mojave Public Cemetery.
