Birth: Feb. 15, 1887
Platte Colony
Charles Mix County
South Dakota, USA
Death: Jun. 11, 1943
New Holland

Her parents, Albert Beltman (27 y, born in Gramsbergen, farmer) and Hendrikjen Nijzink (22, Ambt Hardenberg), married on 22 December 1881 in Ambt Hardenberg, in the utter northeastern part of the Dutch northeastern province Overijssel.

Jennie Beltman was born in February 1887, daughter of a certain John Beltman. Her obituary stated that she was born 7 miles southwest of Platte, SD, USA. "New" Platte City did not exist until 1900 when the railroad came. The nearest town (post office) was very probably Nieveen or Castalia, Charles Mix County, SD. It's not unlikely that her authentic -Dutch- given name was Jennegien.

In June 1900 Jennie Beltman (13 y, born in February 1887 in South Dakota), her father Albert Beltman (46, September 1854, Holland, immigrated in 1883, farmer), her mother Hendrikien (40, May 1860, Holland, immigrated in 1883, mother of 2 living children) and her brother John Beltman (9, December 1891, South Dakota) were living at a rented farm in Platte Township, Charles Mix County, South Dakota.

In 1907 she was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Platte.

Jennie Beltman married on 31 March 1909 to the three years older Reinder Groen. They lived on a farm two miles south of Joubert, and later on in the Dutch agrarian settlement of New Holland, both places located in Douglas County, SOuth Dakota.

In September 1918 Jennie and her husband, the 35 years aged farmer Reinder Groen were living in Harrison, Douglas County, South Dakota

In 1920 Jennie (33, South Dakota) and her husband Reindert Groen (37, Holland) were living in Clark Township, Douglas County, South Dakota.

One daughter was born to them, in 1925, Johanna Groen, who married to Arie Paul Van Zee.

In 1930 Jennie (44), her husband Reinder Groen (47), their daughter Johanna (4, South Dakota) and Jennie's father Albert Beltman (75, Netherlands) were living in Joubert, Douglas County, South Dakota.

In April 1940 Jennie (53), her husband Reinder Groen (57, no occupation) and their daughter Johanna (14, new worker on a farm) were living at an own farm, worth $1000, in New Holland, Joubert Township, Douglas County, South Dakota.

Jennie died in June 1943 at the age of 56 years in New Holland, Douglas County, South Dakota. Her widower Reinder Groen died in October 1956 at the age of almost 74 years in Platte, Charles Mix County, South Dakota.
