Avis Kathryn (Grimson) Daniel was born May 18, 1914 on the family farm at Rainbow Valley, in Williams County, North Dakota. She was the oldest child of Nels O. and Julia (Berg) Grimson. She was baptized and confirmed at Rainbow Valley Lutheran Church, attended grade school at New Home country school and graduated from Wildrose High School in 1932. Avis continued her education at Joseph's Beauty School in Fargo and operated a Beauty Shop in Ray. She also worked as a caretaker for the children of the Lloyd Jacobson family.

On January 4, 1941 Avis was united in marriage to Arthur Daniel at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ray, ND. They made their home on the family farm near Ray where they shared 41 years. Avis was a charter member of the Ray Jolly 16 Homemakers Club. She was an active member of the St. Michael's Altar Society. Together, Art and Avis enjoyed several years of square dancing, making many lifelong friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking- the cookie jar was always the first stop when visiting Mom/Grandma.

Avis continued to live on the farm after Art's passing and later moved to Ray Senior Housing. In December 2008 she moved to the Kensington in Williston where she resided until January 2012 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Mohall.

Avis is survived by her loving family, Geri (Robert) Cogdill of Burlington, ND, Keith (Rhonda) Daniel of Ray, ND, and Karen (Hollis) Farber of Williston, ND; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Laura (Todd) Nelson and their children, Claire and Karly; Heather (Ben) Opland and their children, Charlie and Audrey; Joshua (Amy) Cogdill and their daughter, Delila; Lance (Brenda) Daniel and their children Madison and Zane; Shana (Deon) Iverson and their children, Devin, Jace, Jaden and Sara Grace; Paula (Kevin) Pernell and their daughter, Danika; Shane (Tammy Gleisner) Farber and their daughter , Peyton; her brother, Leland (Delores) Grimson; brother-in-law, Francis Daniel; sister-in-law, Sara Barstad; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art; three infant children; sisters, Ruth and Ruby; brother, Norman; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law

Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston on Friday from 10am to 7pm and an hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ray. Father Dennis Schafer and Father Benny Putharayil will officiate.
